Lingus Announces Major Long-Haul Expansion for
2016 Addition of Direct Service to
Dublin, Ireland from Los Angeles, Newark (New
Jersey) and Hartford (Connecticut). The number
of transatlantic routes has grown from nine to
twelve routes and transatlantic seat capacity
grows to over two million seats for the first
time ever.
Dublin Port
to facilitate larger cruise
ships:
Dublin Port
Company has said it hopes to start construction
"within months" on a €230m project to extend
capacity, including cruise infrastructure, as
part of a five year plan to open up the port to
larger cruise ships and increased container
traffic. The new plan will allow cruise ships to
berth and turn around at the East link
bridge.
United restores year
round service between Newark and
Belfast: This service will
operate throughout the winter
season with up to three departures per
week. Frequency on the route will progressively
reduce from daily as of August 9th to
three per week from September 28th
2016.
Delta increases capacity
between Atlanta and
Dublin: Delta plans to
introduce Airbus A330 - 300 (293 seats)
operation on Atlanta - Dublin route,
replacing Boeing 767 (226 seats) on five of
seven weekly flights. First A330 - 300
flight from Atlanta is scheduled on May 26th
2016, operating daily except Tuesday and
Wednesday over the
Summer schedule.
Air
capacity to Ireland from the US is up
15% from 2014 (Canada
+20%). |
